Excerpt from "My Humming"

You are my humming, I kiss
your voice and bend to kiss
your silence, but where
are you when the door
to your sounds is closed.
My poem
is your name! I kiss
the two syllables you are,
I start with your name, I kiss
your sounds, between the sounds
that stride through the fields.
Your mouth
is my heaven! Your tongue sweats
the water of childhood, still
the child's water, and if I kiss
the mischievous wetness of
that slighted spring, your sounds
would thirst for me. Your tongue is hell
